If you're ever cruisin' down Hwy 41 to Macon, Georgia...there are a few spots your stomach doesn't want to miss.

Nu-way

Nu-Way Weiners

The Allman Brothers...cherry blossoms...Otis Redding...AND the Nu-Way Weiner...all good reasons to love Macon.   Nu-Way is more than just a good hot dog, it's an obsession for many native Maconites.  (Are they called Maconites? or Maconians?) From the tasty chili to the flaky ice in the soft drinks, you can't go wrong at Nu-way.

My personal favorite at Nu-Way is an "all the way" dog topped with slaw...this means mustard, onion, of course the homemade chili sauce, and creamy cole slaw on top.  My mouth is already watering.  I must admit, the first time I saw that little hot pink weiner I was a little skeptical...but one bite and I was singing a different tune. "I'd go a long way for a Nu-Way!"   430 Cotton Ave.

Jim Shaw's Seafood

When I first heard I would be going to a Seafood restaurant in small, land-locked Macon...I grimaced. After all, I am the same food snob that first turned my nose up at those famous hot pink Nu-Way weiners.  So, I was ready for Macon to prove me wrong again...and they did. Jim Shaw's' gets their seafood fresh from Darien, Georgia, just a few hours away on the coast.  With a bustling atmosphere on a Friday night, I would suggest sitting on the bar side of restaurant. It's not fancy but it fits the bill.  From raw oysters to fried shrimp to the very delicious blackened crayfish (my personal favorite)...I had my fill of Macon's best seafood.  Next time I'm going to try the alligator.  3040 Vineville Ave.

Fountain of Juice

After all calories I had consumed in Macon, I was most pleasantly surprised to find the healthy and organic menu at Fountain of Juice. After studying the menu, I had successfully diagnosed myself with Menu Anxiety or MA. (Menu Anxiety(MA): inability to concentrate on 1 or even 2 items on a menu, often accompanied by  fear "Please, God, don't let me choose the wrong thing.", sweaty palms, and eyes growing larger than stomach.)  Too many good things to choose from!  Luckily, once my food arrived I was able to concentrate on a mouth-watering warm wrap filled with turkey, granny smith apple, and melted brie. Be sure to also try out the Roasted Chicken Greek Salad, Red Bell Pepper-Tomato soup, their tasty chicken salad, and of course, their smoothies made with organic yogurt. The only unfortunate part... I picked a table outside and had a view Jim Shaw's, where I had shamelessly taken down a basket of fried shrimp the night before.  So much for feeling healthy. 3045 Vineville Ave.

When was the last time you found yourself having a Menu Anxiety moment? It happens to me every time I set foot in a Dairy Queen. (Last week I walked out with a butterscotch dipped cone AND an Oreo blizzard....maybe this is just a self discipline issue)

So... tell me all about your own experiences with menu anxiety???

I've had a different kind of menu anxiety. Once dining at Peasant in NYC the entire menu was in Italian. Not speaking Italian, I had to have the waitress read the menu to me 2 times...at which point I gave up and let her choose. It was delicious though!

I always have this moment at the sushi place. If every kind of restaurant gave you a menu and a pencil, I'd probably weigh two tons.
